If B&K put one out, I'd be in! Seems like they take forever to catch up.

So yea, I'm watching too Max. Thanks for the ongoing updates.

Perhaps they're still working out the licensing agreements? That thing will be seriously dead in the water without the newest formats.

The Rotel is not 1.3 HDMI according to the link which I really read right after editing it into the page.

So I removed it.

Will add the pioneer in the morning the little one is pulling at my arm.

Added new ultra expensive Pioneer Elite. Oddly they keep calling it a receiver but from reading the article it sounds like a pre-pro with a separate 10 channel amp that it sits on. Like a two piece receiver?!?

Sound impressive.

I have been doing some reading on Audssey system of auto room adjustment and EQ and it sounds like currently any unit not using their system like the Yamaha and Pioneer units are at a huge disadvantage. The onkyo and Denon units which both have this system seem to be the best options. This seems like the most advanced system though other companies would rather use one of their own making that lacks is kind of odd.

I really think that the unit I purchase will have the Audssey system.

I am almost ready to run out and pick up a 4308 at this point but kind of still holding out to learn more.

OK I have finally given into the temptation and unless some how my will power returns I will be picking up a 3808 or order a 4308 today. Best Buy is doing 3 years no interest and has the 3808 in stock and the guy told me if I order a 4308 today he will give me $100 off and it will be in on the 12th.

Kind of going back and forth over which to get but leaning towards the wireless 4308 unit.

Very very likely to give up and do this today.

Damn I feel myself wavering again. ARRRRGGHHH!!!!

I gotta do it, I doubt there will be buyers remorse.

Well now that you mention it, yeah I am probably in the under $1,000 camp, or maybe even less , plus I am a big OUtlaw fan, so kind of holding my breath waiting on rumored Spring roll outs of new product lines for Outlaw.... but on another note. I could have sworn I saw a post about problems with Onkyo???? yes ? no ?

Harley,
There's only 1 choice below $1k for an HDMI pre and that's Outlaw and who knows when they will get their stuff together. Even then I think the Integra pre at $1500 is a better value if we say the Outlaw will be $1000 or even a little more.

The only issues I know of on the Onkyo's are the popping issues that have been reported while switching HDMI sources. Otherwise rock solid.

Here's a question re: the Integra with the Silicon Optix chip. I know it can upscale everything from every source up to 1080P and output via HDMI. That's fantastic. But what about this scenario-

Can I run all HDMI sources to the Integra via HDMI (PS3, cable box in my case) and connect my non HDMI sources (Xbox 360)- and scale to 720P (my projectors resolution) and output through COMPONENT? I want to take advantage of the advanced audio and video from the PS3 through the HDMI connection- but my HDMI cable is currently dead, so the component is the only working connection to my projector. Is this possible? If possible, it would be great, since the HQV chip scales better than pretty much anything, and it would get the best possible quality to my Panny without requiring any additional projector scaling. And, to boot, I'd be getting HD audio from BR disks on the PS3. And if that works, if I decide to add a stand-alone HD-DVD player, the same would be possible. Am I crazy?

edit- And then when I upgrade the projector to a 1080P model, I would have to run a new HDMI cable to it and I'd still be completely covered by the Integra's capabilities.

It's not possible to strip the HDCP aspects so going down to component won't work.

bummer- then I'd have to re-run a new HDMI cable to my projector to take full advantage. I guess it's not the end of the world, just won't be fun trying to pull the old one out and run the new one.

They have also added HDMI 1.3 to their line up of Receivers. The 8002, 7002, 6002, and 5002 will all provide support for DTS-HD MA and Dolby TRUE HD. Note, all the upgrades and new features at the SAME price point of the 8001. 8.1 PCM is also supported of course. Very welcome news seeing as Marantz is a fan favorite here on the forums.
8002 shows 4 in 2 out

OK I added the B&K stuff and the Marantz stuff as their web sites come online I will add links with pictures as well.

Added review of the Onkyo 875.

Harley,
All the Onkyo reviews seem to be very good for the most part. You might want to consider the Intera Processor because you will be waiting along time for an HDMI 1.3 processor to hit the $1000 price point and at $1600 it is likely a very nice unit.

You wont regret your purchase. I have had mine for a good while now and it works perfectly, sounds good and has, to the best of my knowlege no real issues with switch, handshake, upconversion, sound or...well anything.
You have nothing to worry about. The only choice I made was for more power, but as a pre/pro it is outstanding.

In short, B&K engineers told a guy that the future audio formats are board level upgrade slated for Q1 08. No idea on cost.
