The WSJ has a front-page article in today's weekend section saying 2010 may be the worst movie year ever.
Loved some of the quotes they used from critics' reviews: "An epic example of muddled storytelling, chintzy excitement and scatter-brained execution" "Phenomenally monotonous" "One of the ghastliest Hollywood misfires of recent memory" "Tries to do so little, and yet falls so short"

What movies were those quotes referring to?

I knew someone would ask:
"An epic example of muddled storytelling, chintzy excitement and scatter-brained execution": Prince of Persia "Phenomenally monotonous": Robin Hood "One of the ghastliest Hollywood misfires of recent memory": Grown Ups "Tries to do so little, and yet falls so short": The Losers

I quite enjoyed The Losers...lots of action, things go boom, semi-hot chick...Jason Patric as a great new bad guy that is fully in on the joke...what's not to like?
But... They may have a point...at least to a point. I would think that Inception and TS3, among one or two others have shown that there is at least the ABILITY to produce quality work over Whiz, Bang, Boom, Boob...

Quote:
"Where once there was Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, there is now Robin Hood, prince of duds. Where once we could look forward to Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Last of the Mohicans, we can now look forward to Dinner for Schmucks and The Last Airbender."

Looking at this year's releases vs last year, I don't think it's particularly terrible. I think I read every summer that this is the worst movie year ever. People who hate hollywood films are usually venting around this time of year.
