Default Brad Pitt as an actor

Pick which one fits in your opinion.

I think Pitt takes some lame roles but they must be fun projects for him because IMO he has major chops.

Anyone who has any doubts about his acting chops need only watch "The Assassination of Jesse James..." He absolutely kills in this role (no pun intended.)

Pretty much my thoughts. Great actor who doesn't always pick the best movies to take part in. We just watched Thelma and Louise the other night and it was kind of cool to see Brad early on and remember how he has evolved.

I think he's done pretty well overall. His only "lame" roles, IMO, are the Ocean movies, and maybe Spy Games and The Mexican.

It's not like he's only doing buddy comedies or kid's movies, or just showing up for the paycheck.

Wow, I would not have picked Spy Game or the Ocean's movies as his lesser films. I like him in all of those. Different strokes...

IMO, for the first several years of his career, he was a pretty-boy with very little talent. However, I give him credit for learning the craft - albeit at the expense of those who paid to see his early films. Today, I rate him as good, but still not in the top tier.

I saw Spy Games a while, but don't recall it, so I may be wrong. As for the Ocean movies: its just a bunch of pretty actors, looking good leaning against stuff with their arms folded, and acting cool in the hopes of getting a bunch of money. IMO.

I chose "Good but not great" only because there wasn't a slightly higher choice. Do I think he is one of the greatest? No, but he is very good. I can't believe I write that today, because my opinion has changed over the years. As he has matured, he has matured and conveys an adult awareness that wasn't there earlier. I would much rather see Pitt than DiCaprio. I guess I placed the two of them at the same starting point and Pitt has matured. DiCaprio is still a man child to me.

He's a movie star that can actually act, when the role depends on it. So I chose "Good but not Great." Is role in Inglorious Basterds absolutely slayed me. Probably my favorite role from him is Tyler Durden from Fight Club.

He is probably the best supporting male actor in the business he only fails for me when he tries to be the lead.

He is the Paul Newman of our generation, a pretty boy who actually is an excellent actor.

Did you guys miss Meet Joe Black? THE worst acting I've EVER seen, especially next to Anthony Hopkins. Pitt ranks up there with Cruise. The right character in the right movie and they're watchable.

I think this is a bit unfair and invalid. You can't point to one role as refutation of all the other good stuff he has done.

Anyone can have a bad movie and it may not be their fault or representative of them as an actor.

For example, if you judged them by their work in George Lucas films, Harrison Ford, Alec Guiness, Ewan MacGregor, Liam Neeson, Hayden Christensen and Nathalie Portman would all be deemed to be horrible actors...

I loved his performances in 12 Monkeys, 7 Years in Tibet and Fight Club.

I thought he was perfect in "Meet Joe Black." He played the role exactly the way it should have been played, if you ask me. I liked his performance much more than Fredrick March's in "Death Takes a Holiday," which was the inspiration for Joe Black.

I find Pitt as one of my favorite actors in modern films and he rarely dissapoints.
I loved him in:
Fight Club
12 Monkeys
Mr & Mrs Smith
True Romance
Snatch
Inglorious Bastards

I as well voted him "Good but not Great" as there should be one notch above that.

That's funny. i thought he was good in the Mexican. I thought he played that part perfectly. Not the best movie ever, but I liked his part in it.
