So I guy at work was talking about this... I had no idea.

So basically you use an oculus rift or other device. You use some kind of side loader program to access porn files online.

Basically he says you then see a porn movie like you are there and you are sort of a participant. Meaning I think if you look down you will see a nude body (representing your body). Actors in the movie will do stuff to your body.

Wow I didn't know about this. I am not a huge porn consumer, I certainly thought I knew what was out there, but turns out I did not. So I googled it and read some reviews of people who did this at CES I think. Sounds like this is going to change that industry. People saying things like once you do this, you new view standard porn again.

So who has one of these devices, no need to admit VR porn usage etc. But it you have a device does this seem believable? I don't have a headset because I couldn't really think of a reason I would need or want one. And this still is not a reason to buy for me. Having said that if someone said put this on and look, I would. This sounds pretty cutting edge to me.

I mean would this make your brain feel like you were there? Or would this just fee like watching bad 3D movies?

If it works for porn could it work for teaching a doctor to do surgery, or a first respond how to do first aid?
Are things far enough along that this is useful?

I think this is one area where porn is actually lagging. I'm sure this will be a thing at some point, but some of the training aspects you hint at are already more mature.

This needs to be combined with smell-o-vision for that "you really are there" experience.

I have friends at work who have the Rift or the Vive. For video game play, they say that "room-scale VR" truly is a game changer. I've never tried them, in fact I was at NAB a couple of weeks ago, and I should have taken the opportunity to try out some VR demos. I've read articles on VR porn, haven't experienced it personally... yet :)

This stuff is farther along than I thought. Video games porn or non, could be taking to a whole new level.

Seems to me it's just another step in visual improvement. The really big break thru will be full sensory perception and it won't be just for porn. But that will likely require a full brain interface and while there has been some development in that area (mainly for people missing limbs or paralyzed) there is still a lot of development needed even for those applications. It will be quite a while before it will be advanced enough to make available for purely recreational use.

Porn industry is generally the first to adopt the latest technology, they adopted video tape, DVD and BR DVD even before the rest of Hollywood caught on to each of these media. Surprising that they have not yet adopted VR.

The VR I've tried so far makes me close to vomiting inside 60 seconds so we'll see if this actually takes off.

And I've read the military grounds pilots for 48 hours after doing VR training as it mucks with your depth perception and balance. So if true, and it takes off, it could end up having consequences for people driving after using it too.

I'm with CJ though, until they find a way around the inner ear/eye disconnect VR will stay niche or only be played for short periods by most.

I thought about getting an Oculus Rift and playing around with it. I find this stuff pretty interesting. Problem is I don't have a computer that can run it. Basically no current Mac can, so I am out of luck.

the VR pr0n i'm aware of, you can even just use a simple headset, like google cardboard. They are shooting (no pun intended) POV scenes where you are the male.... performer. So that is the VR aspect of it. Scenes recorded prior to VR, I guess is just updated to provide depth of field?

Have not used a headset yet, so I can't comment of content quality. I guess I could pick up one of the card-boards or something and use my iPhone to get into VR on the cheap.

Maureen and I went to Baltimore a year ago to meet a doctor at Johns Hopkins who's using VR to work with Macular Degeneration patients. Maureen interviewed him for her blog and I think I posted a link after she published. He let me try them out and it was interesting. He used a Samsung VR headset and phone. The center of each eye was blurred to simulate mac degen, and his aim was to strengthen peripheral vision to compensate for the central vision loss. This is off topic, but for my brilliant wife, it was science porn.

Damn, I could not pass by this post, I sit now and just can not stop laughing))
Let's just figure it out, VR, the technology that was being developed for ... And what exactly was it designed for? Let's see what is written about this on wiki Virtual reality - Wikipedia
If you are too lazy to read something, I'll briefly describe it. People dreamed of virtual reality for quite some time, they wrote about it in science fiction and journalistic publications. Stanislav Lem mentioned the virtual reality in his books( if memory serves me right). Oooh .. Mankind dreamed of V. Reality! How much room for learning complicated occupations, design, engineering, modeling of arts development! Yes, even for games! And what we see - now in VR the porn industry is popular: D Hell, I do not even know what else to add). No, let's see how much VR costs now. Here's a nice selection of top-notch VR devices from different manufacturers 5 Best Virtual Reality Headsets of 2017 in the UK - BestAdvisers.co.uk
So viewing porn in 3d will cost you only about 15-30 pounds. Here it is the development of human Genius! Instead of doing something useful, we will please our "little friend" with 3d pornography.
My opinion - I`ll better spend 30 pounds on trips, cinema and a cafe with a girl, (or trying to get acquainted with one), without any degrade.
    That's all from me, thanks

I actually did grab a google cardboard thing. But I haven't even taken it out of the box. Just planning on downloading a roller coaster app or something to see what it is all about.

I'm actually okay with VR and all the new HiTech products, it's just very unpleasant when smb distort what you dreamed about reading books in childhood

I have no idea what the future holds for VR or if I am even on board with it for entertainment purposes. But I will at least have a look. I don't go to porn theaters or peep shows etc. kind of doubt VR porn will be a big part of my life.
