I played the Ring Leader for a Barnum Play back in the 9th grade, and I had to sing............

    Looking forward to seeing this.........

Looks like it could be a fun movie for sure.

He certainly was an interesting character and collected many oddities - some perhaps groundbreaking -

Saw this a few days ago with the family. Not a bio-pic. A fictionalization in musical format and damn good in my opinion. It seems to be getting negative reviews primarily because it is not "accurate". Puh-leeze. If anyone went in thinking a Hugh Jackman musical about PT Barnum was going to be historically accurate, they're a dufus to start with.

    It's a musical so I won't be seeing it...

Perhaps. But it's also 90 or so minutes I won't struggle through bored beyond tears. :)

The 13 y.o. girls loved it, as did my wife. I stayed away. To quote CJ, "my loss".

I find it hard to believe, as open minded as you generally are, that you are sure every example of an entire genre will bore you.

Yes, I am exaggerating a bit. I don't hate all musicals: I liked Moulin Rouge and Across The Universe. But that's about it. In general, Musical Theater I avoid and musical movies I avoid like the plague.

I was just about to write something about Moulin Rouge! when I saw your reply.
But for your further education I'll add the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
    And Chicago.
    And Cabaret.

But La La Land you can safely avoid.

I liked Rocky Horror but only because it became such an event film. The original Cabaret was fantastic, but I never finished Chicago and you'd have to put me in the torture chair at the end of Clockwork Orange to get me to sit through La La Land. :)

But then you'll be cured alright ;)

While it had a lot of Moulin Rouge to it, awesome film in all aspects. Loved it and a must buy for sure.
