We don't have a book forum, so I'll post this here.

Dr. Jerry Pournelle passed away at home on September 8th of heart failure.

He was the author of the Janissaries Series and co-author (With Larry Niven) of The Mote In God's Eye, as well as many other bestselling books. He was primarily a sci-fi author, but he also wrote books on politics and popular culture. He was considered by many to be the political heir of Robert Heinlein. He also worked in the aerospace industry for many years and was an advisor the NASA and the DoD on space exploration and military matters.

Jerry Pournelle, Science Fiction Novelist and Computer Guide, Dies at 84
