    OK.

    http://www.bottlehead.com/store.php...o-single-ended-2a345-integrated-amplifier-kit

I'm going to order one of these on Monday. If you want to get one too and save 10% for the both of us, now is the time to sign up.

I will pay in full up front and have both shipped to me. Your cost will be half what I pay plus the shipping to you.

It looks like a 4 week lead time, so be prepared to wait a while. When they arrive I will let you know the cost and you can send me a check and I will send the box.

If you want one, let me know.

Will be interesting to see how this works, in speaking to Bob Brines, he recommends a minimum of 10 watts per channel for the floor stand Tang Bands.
    What cha think ??

Brines uses a more agressive zobel as well as a BSC network, so he loses some sensitivity. He is also recommending for general apps. where rooms can be bigger and people want to run as loud as they can. The drivers are rated to 30 watts, but I would expect them to run out of Xmax well before that at low frequency.

For my app, 3.5 watts will be more than enough. I am 75 dB at one meter, milliwatts.

You still want the Dared Jack? It's 16 watts/ch.

You makin' dust over there - :)

Hey Jack, there's some new posts in the 1772 thread over at DIY. A guy built up Brines network and said it "sucked the life out of the music"

There is a price you pay for reactive components in the signal path - :)

    I'm ready.

The nice thing about lead time is you get to do a little research.

Got some Russian paper in oil .1 mfd 630 volt coupling caps off ebay and ordered up a couple Mundorf Supreme parafeed caps optimised for 2A3 from Madisound.

Yeah, put the mod parts in with the build instead of rework - :)

I got some Electro Harmonix 2A3's with gold grids ordered too. Supposed to sound like the Sovtec's only better. And they have the cool white porcelian bases!

Yeah, I got a grand in this baby already and it ain't even here yet.

Tube amps will do that to you - :)

I ordered up the tubes from an ebay store called Yu Audio. I have bought from them before, they are in Phoenix, AZ and have good prices and fast shipping.

So they send me a note that the tubes they have in stock do not match to within the 3% differance they consider to be "matched" and they can either send what they have or I can wait a week for the new shipment to arrive and they will send 3% tubes.

I said time is not a problem, send me a good matched pair. Nice guys eh?

I doubt my speakers are matched to 3% - :)

Keep the pictures coming Mike. It will be great to see the step by step build of this amp. I've wanted to build one of these but do not feel comfortable with my electrical skills to complete so it is great to watch this type of build.

My favorite finish on my Bottlehead top plate was when I sprayed some metallic purplish Rustoleum on it, left it out to dry, it started raining and I didn't notice, and then I put a clear coat on top. It almost looked like it was planned ;)

Carl might be able to post a pic if he still has that Foreplay preamp, and if it still has that finish on it. I sold it to him for way too much money many years ago :)
