When I rearranged my den desk a while back there really wasn't room for the larger Lyr / Bifrost stack and I ended up selling them. But, that mean I had nothing beyond a direct laptop connection to power my Mr. Speakers Mad Dogs. I wasn't in a huge rush by any means so I did nothing for a while. Last week I finally pulled the trigger on a Modi Multi-Bit and Vali 2. I owned an original Vali but took some issue with the non-replaceable mini-tube and the tube would ring if you bumped the enclosure or when you plugged in the headphones. The new Vali 2 has a top mounted socket and takes a 6BZ7, ECC88, 6922, 6DJ8, 2492 type tube. The setup arrived today and I'm listening as we speak (working from home due to icy roads). Nice to be able to listen to some HQ tunes while at the computer. As bonus, Schiit has taken another step up in fit and finish since even my most recent previous purchase. The edges of their signature single-sheet metal top / front plate is now slightly beveled on the edge so you can no longer slit your wrist accidentally while reaching for the back power switch.
